How does it look in Les Houches just now?
Snowbeds says
Sitting at the entrance to the Chamonix valley and venue for the famous Kandahar downhill Les Houches can either be used as a base for skiing the pretty tree lined family friendly local ski area,or as a stepping stone to the rest of the Chamonix Valley which is linked by bus and train.
Good for
- Families
- Scenery
- Skiers
- Beginners
Where is it?
Apres ski
There are signs that the apres-ski is beginning to improve in Les Houches, with a few young entrepreneurs opening bars and restaurants here. These include the Marmotte Restaurant and Bar and the Pull Up bar which calls itself a ‘rum and karaoke bar’. But if after-dinner entertainment really is your thing, we recommend you head to Chamonix, which is accessible by public bus until midnight and is ten minutes away
What others say
"We have just returned from Les Houches with a mixed ability group. Our beginners liked the safe training area at the top of the Gondola"
"Was my first trip to the Alps. Great little mountain with easy access to Chamonix"
Top Les Houches tips
- Attention boarders - there are a lot of drag lifts in this ski area and there are lots of flat sections between many lift links.
- Parking at Les Chavants is easier than at the center of Les Houches town.
- Both main lifts (Bellevue and Prarion) are on the Chamonix free bus route.
- More sheltered than the other Chamonix ski areas, it's the place to go when the weather is bad.
- There are some good fun runs through the trees.
