Snowbeds says

A village full of skiers and alpinists with nightlife centered around the famous Office Bar. People come here for its reputation of being the Extreme Ski and Board capital of Europe. Beginners should take the 10 minute bus ride to Le Tour at the head of the valley. A look at the piste map does not do this area justice. Look instead at the contours and itineries that are available from the top of the Grand Montets at 3400m or from the top of the Bochard lift - Off Piste Heaven!! Free bus service to the rest of the Chamonix Valley.
Good for

  • Off Piste
  • High Mountain skiing
  • Freeride
  • Snowboarding
  • Skiing
Where is it?

Apres ski

There are a dozen or so bars in the village, including the Savoie Bar and Stones Bar. The Office is even more lively and very popular, especially at Happy Hour.

Try the Fu bar for the the Wildest apres-ski in town, kicking off with Happy Hour at 4pm until 6pm, followed by Cocktail Madness from 9pm to 10pm and then moving on to Shot o'Clock from 11pm to midnight. Live music, DJs and, of course, the Rodeo Bull!

For more choice head down the road to Chamonix where there are pubs, clubs and live music venues.
What others say

Chamonix expert Adam Ruck: "In January 1981, I bought a £99 chalet holiday to a low resort I had never heard of, with an unimpressive tally of seven lifts - Argentière. The slopes were a revelation, and I learned the difference between quality and quantity. Since then, no season has passed without a few trips to the top, to confront 2,000 vertical metres of rough and tumble."
Top Argentière Tips

  • Wrap up warm! It's a very cold ski area
  • Keep to the marked areas as much of the skiing is on a glacier.
  • Take a guide for the day to access some amazing routes from the top lift, local knowledge will keep you safe
  • You can use the train to access all areas of Chamonix as it's included on your lift pass.
